Deda and the Newest Bars Around Pasadena

By Alejandro Espitia · 6 min read · 2026-10-02

A candlelit cocktail bar with two coupe glasses on a concrete counter, warm Edison bulbs, and glowing amber bottle racks on exposed brick

This edition of the nightlife roundup leads with the one address new to this map: Deda, the Georgian restaurant and bar at 55 S. Lake Avenue, Suite 150, whose U-shaped bar, Georgian cocktails, and khantsi drinking horns make it the most interesting new drinking room near the Playhouse Village this season. It then re-checks the current map so every room below reads true today: La Cave and the Dungeon from the newest wave in Old Town, Bar Betsy and Sid's Bar just across the lines, Osa Rooftop as Pasadena's only rooftop bar, and Bacari still building at One Colorado. Every address and detail below was verified on October 2, 2026 against the venue's own page or a published story. Your host is Alejandro Espitia, Broker Associate and REALTOR with Apex Realty and Investments, California license 01213999, with 18+ years across Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Gabriel, and Riverside, in English and Spanish.

Deda: Georgian hospitality and a drinking horn on South Lake

Deda, which takes its name from the Georgian word for mother, opened over the summer a few steps from the Pasadena Playhouse, and its bar is a centerpiece: a big U-shaped counter dominating the first room, with the neighborhood bar energy that the Pasadena Star-News and The Infatuation both wrote up around opening. The program celebrates Georgian drinking culture, which means khantsi, the traditional drinking horns, Georgian cocktails built around chacha and Georgia's ancient wine tradition, and the kitchen's khachapuri and khinkali to go with the pours. Hours run Monday through Thursday 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday 5:00 to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday noon to 10:00 p.m. with weekend brunch, at (626) 995-3332 and dedarestaurant.com. Confirm the evening hours on its own page before you go, since they change with the season.

The current map, re-checked

The rest of the map holds from the earlier editions of this series. La Cave at 163 W. Green Street remains the newest wine bar of note inside Pasadena proper, open Wednesday through Sunday 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Dungeon, the women-owned basement speakeasy under Der Wolf at 72 N. Fair Oaks Avenue, keeps its hand-painted walls and its late-night hours. Bar Betsy at 871 E. Mariposa Street in Altadena stays the day-to-night Parisian wine bar that opened in the spring. Sid's Bar at 1020-1022 El Centro Street in South Pasadena keeps its rotating cocktails and DJ nights beside Sid The Cat Auditorium. Osa Rooftop at 540 E. Colorado Boulevard remains Pasadena's only rooftop bar, and Bacari is still on the way to One Colorado with an address confirmed at 41 Hugus Alley. None of those doors moved this week; Deda is the new one to know.

Names, addresses, and details verified October 2, 2026 against venue pages, the South Lake Avenue and Old Pasadena directories, and published reviews. Hours vary and change with the season.

One honest note for this edition: beyond Deda, no brand-new cocktail bar opening inside Pasadena proper could be confirmed for this edition as of October 2, 2026, so this guide says that plainly rather than inventing one. The rooms above are the current verified map, hours change with the season, and Pasadena Now's food-and-drink coverage is the place to watch for the next door to land.

What the newest rooms say about the neighborhood

A town that can hold a Georgian bar with drinking horns on South Lake, a French wine room off Green Street, a painted speakeasy under a beer hall on Fair Oaks, and a rooftop above the Playhouse Village has a nightlife map with real depth, and the newest verified entry points to the same story the dining guides have been telling: the blocks around the Playhouse and the east side are where the wave is building. For a home shopper, that range of walkable evening options is exactly the kind of amenity that holds value in the blocks around it.
