What to do this week in Pasadena, California

By Alejandro Espitia · 8 min read · 2026-10-02

Quiet Pasadena residential street with Craftsman bungalows, a tree-lined sidewalk, and soft morning light

This week in Pasadena, California runs from Monday, October 5 through Sunday, October 11, 2026, and the calendar is built around one big night: ArtNight Pasadena on Friday, October 9, when 23 cultural venues open free from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. with shuttle routes connecting the city. Around it, A Noise Within opens Come From Away, CatCon fills the Pasadena Convention Center for the weekend, and the Oak Knoll neighborhood gets its own Walktober walking tour. Every date, time, and venue below was checked against the City of Pasadena, the Pasadena Playhouse, A Noise Within, the Gamble House, the Norton Simon Museum, USC Pacific Asia Museum, CatCon Worldwide, the Rose Bowl, and the Pasadena Certified Farmers Market on October 2, 2026. Your host is Alejandro Espitia, Broker Associate and REALTOR with Apex Realty & Investments, California license 01213999, with 18+ years across Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Gabriel, and Riverside, working in English and Spanish.

ArtNight Pasadena, Friday night: 23 venues, free, with shuttles

ArtNight is Pasadena's twice-a-year citywide open house, and the fall edition runs Friday, October 9 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. with free admission at 23 arts and cultural venues and free shuttle routes between them. The Gamble House at 4 Westmoreland Place goes full Craftsman evening: the California Art Club leads a period-costume sketching session inside the historic house, and the Rodney's Ribs food truck sets up on the grounds. The Pasadena Playhouse holds its Piano Bar in the courtyard, a free show-tune sing-along, since the mainstage is dark this week between The Visit and Passing Strange. Farther afield, Bob Baker Marionettes and Theater Americana's Thriller play the City Hall hub, and the Norton Simon Museum and USC Pacific Asia Museum both open their doors free for the night. Check the city's ArtNight page for the full venue list and shuttle map, then let the evening turn into a walking tour of the districts you only see by day.

Come From Away opens Saturday at A Noise Within

A Noise Within at 3352 E. Foothill Boulevard brings the Tony Award-winning musical Come From Away to East Pasadena as part of its 35th-anniversary season, directed by Julia Rodriguez-Elliott. Preview performances run Wednesday, October 7 through Friday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m., and opening night is Saturday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m., with the run continuing into November. The theatre sits along the Foothill corridor where east Pasadena's mid-century neighborhoods cluster, the stretch most visitors only drive past on the way downtown. An evening show is a good excuse to see that part of the city after hours, and a showing a few blocks off the corridor gives you the same street at human speed.

CatCon rolls into the Convention Center for the weekend

CatCon, the pop-culture convention for cat people, takes over the Pasadena Convention Center at 300 E. Green Street on Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11, roughly 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. Expect more than 200 adoptable kittens in the adoption lounge, 150-plus exhibitors, appearances, cat cosplay, and workshops, with tickets sold through Eventbrite. The Convention Center sits a short walk from Old Pasadena and the Paseo, so the weekend doubles as a downtown stroll, and the Metro A Line stops nearby for anyone coming from outside the city.

Walktober keeps walking: an Oak Knoll neighborhood tour

The city's month-long Walktober festival continues, and the Week Without Driving challenge wraps up Thursday, October 8, so this is the last full week of the city's no-car challenge. The confirmed walking event for this week runs Saturday, October 10 at 2:00 p.m.: the Historic Oak Knoll Neighborhood Tour with Councilmember Jason Lyon, free, with the meeting point provided when you register on the city's Walktober page or its Eventbrite collection. Oak Knoll is one of Pasadena's architect-rich historic districts, and the route reads like a home-buying preview: the Craftsman, Mediterranean, and estate houses along the walk are the kind of stock a buyer might be comparing on the weekend.

Farmers markets, the Rose Bowl, and family plans

The Pasadena Certified Farmers Market keeps its twice-weekly rhythm: Tuesday, October 6 at Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa Street, and Saturday, October 10 at Victory Park in the 2900 block of North Sierra Madre Boulevard, both 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Over at the Rose Bowl, the 2026 Los Angeles Heart and Stroke Walk steps off Friday, October 9 at 5:00 p.m., the Next Rung Battle for Mental Health gets the grounds moving Saturday morning, and the monthly Rose Bowl Flea Market opens Sunday, October 11 from 5:00 a.m. For families, Halloween at Kidspace continues at 480 N. Arroyo Boulevard with daily costume parades at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m., and Old Pasadena Halloween runs all month, building toward its store-to-store trick-or-treat night on October 31.

A note on the Playhouse: the mainstage is dark this week between The Visit, which closed October 4, and Passing Strange, which opens November 4. The Piano Bar sing-along during ArtNight Friday is the place to catch its courtyard energy in the meantime.

Why a real estate desk publishes your city week

Because a week like this is a neighborhood tour in real time. ArtNight opens the doors of the Playhouse District and the Gamble House's historic Westmoreland blocks, the Oak Knoll walk puts you on the sidewalks of one of the city's most storied neighborhoods, and CatCon brings a downtown crowd within sight of Old Pasadena storefronts. The calendar shows how a city's districts actually live, and that is exactly the intelligence that matters when you are choosing where to make an offer. Alejandro Espitia of Apex Realty & Investments brings 18+ years of local real estate and home financing experience to that search, in English or Spanish, for buyers, sellers, and investors across Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Gabriel, and Riverside.
